About BackWoods

Our aim is to help you to learn new skills and have fun! We run a wide range of workshops throughout the year, held at the nursery, taught by nursery owner Billy or his friend and colleague Becci. Workshops include Willow Obelisk and Cloche Plant Support Weaving, Lino Printing, Botanical Plaster Casting, Spring Plant Propagation, Shrub Pruning, Campfire Cooking, Axe Throwing, Seasonal Wreath Making and Willow Dragonfly Weaving.

When it’s colder in winter and early spring, workshops are held in the workshop room with the wood burner lit! As the weather warms workshops are held under our open-sided marquee, complete with birdsong and woodland views.

About Us

BackWoods was founded because our Instructors love what they do, and they want to share it with you. Our workshops and experiences are rustic, genuine and surrounded by gorgeous woodland. BackWoods Instructors will make sure your time with us is engaging, so whether you’re a complete beginner or are starting out and want to know more – there’s something for everyone.

Our experiences range from Campfire Cooking to Wreath Making and Art and Nature Workshops, all in the woodland setting of Stotts Nursery in Stokenchurch, just a 30 minute train ride from London.
